Under limited supervision, this position provides expert-level support for DFARS Business System compliance across a broad scope of activities, including audit readiness, regulatory compliance initiatives, and complex special projects. The role serves as a trusted advisor to DFARS Business System stakeholders and senior leadership, interpreting complex regulatory requirements, assessing compliance impacts, and recommending practical, risk-based solutions aligned with business objectives.
The position partners closely with external auditors and government agencies (e.g., DCAA and DCMA) to support Business System reviews, audits, and corrective action efforts, while proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance gaps and risks. Responsibilities include supporting internal control testing activities, driving the development and execution of remediation strategies, preparing audit deliverables, and supporting Business System reviews and sustainment activities.

- Special Projects: Provides advisory support for special projects with DFARS Business System compliance implications, including new system implementations, process enhancements, and policy changes. Applies regulatory expertise and critical thinking to assess compliance impacts, identify risks, and recommend practical, business-aligned solutions. May facilitate or advise cross-functional teams in implementing compliance-driven improvements.
- Control & Remediation Support: Collaborates with internal teams to design, implement and test controls over DFARS Business Systems to address risks and compliance gaps. Supports control testing activities related to remediation efforts by reviewing results, assessing effectiveness, and providing recommendations to strengthen controls and reduce risk. Applies professional judgment to evaluate whether corrective actions adequately address audit findings and regulatory requirements.
- Gap Analysis & Control Documentation: Partners with Business System owners and stakeholders to identify and assess compliance gaps and risks. Provides guidance on the documentation and implementation of controls and monitoring mechanisms to enhance compliance and sustain audit readiness. Develops recommendations to improve control effectiveness and regulatory alignment.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination: Facilitates coordination among Business System owners, compliance teams, auditors, and other stakeholders to support audits, reviews, and corrective action activities. Provides clear, actionable guidance to stakeholders on regulatory expectations, audit issues, and risk-based compliance approaches.
- Other Responsibilities: Supports departmental deliverables, including status reporting, risk assessments, and coordination of quarterly DFARS Business System certifications and risk meetings. Manages assigned activities to ensure timely completion while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
